What Was He Thinking?

It was a quiet Friday afternoon, the kids were outside playing and it had been at least 30 min. since we had heard a peep out of either one of them.  That always sends up huge red flags that they are doing something that they are not supposed to be doing.  Stacie races outside to find Roc sitting on the side of house.  When he hears her coming he immediately hides the marker and defensively places both arms behind his back.  Stacie had seen that look of guilt before, knowing that he was hiding something behind his back she demanded that he show her what he had in his hands, Roc professed that his hands were empty (surprise he was telling the truth).  As Stacie made a step toward Roc to see what he had, Roc did the wise thing and presented his hands to his mother explaining that "I wanted to know what it was like to be red."  Stacie was in tears she was laughing so hard.  Roc was relieved that he was not in trouble but then became embarrassed once the camera came out, realizing that if we thought it was something that was that funny that he may regret having evidence of it later.

Asotin County Fair 2010

Thankfully the Asotin County Fair has a family night which is on Thursday night and where you get two for one carnival passes.  Family night is also the least busy which allows you to ride more rides with shorter lines.  Like every year, Stacie refuses to ride the fun rides with the kids (claiming that they make her "sick") so we had to employ Uncle Tyler to help ride the rides with the kids. 

Easter 2010

Our annual Easter Event was filled with a lot of family time and no Easter would be complete without an Easter Egg hunt.  Emma and Roc found all the eggs, counted their loot and then brought the empty eggs to us and asked us to hide them again.  They enjoyed the Easter Egg hunt so much that when we refused to continue to hide the eggs they would take turns hiding the eggs for each other.  Porter on the other hand laid back and passively enjoyed the festivities.

Kaydence's Birthday Party 2010

After a fun day at Wallowa Lake we stopped by a local restaurant and celebrated Kaydence's Birthday with some cake and Hot Chocolate.  It was funny to watch Kaydence start with her fork and quickly progress to discover that it was easier to use her hands to eat her cake.  I do want to make a special note that the cake was made by Ryan and every one was able to eat the cake and up to this point there have been not reported illnesses related to its consumption.

We had a Saturday off so we traveled to Wallowa Lake and were met by Grandpa Scott, Grandma Kathy, Jake and Kaydence.  We had a fun day in the cool February weather enjoying all that nature has to offer.  As the sun fell so did the temperature, so we continued the fun at a local restaurant for some cake and hot chocolate.

Roc's 5th Birthday Feb. 17, 2010

This was another successful birthday party surrounded by friends and family to celebrate the years past and looking forward to the years to come.  Roc is now 5 years old busy with school and sports, but is still able to take time to enjoy his birthday party and is always thankful for the gifts received.

Welcome Porter to the Family Jan. 31, 2010

Porter was very impatient about coming, he came at 34 1/2 weeks.  My water broke a little after 10 PM and he was born right before 2 AM.  Have to admit was a little stressed about him coming that early and not having his lungs not fully developed but he's been a strong one from day one.  The hardest part was teaching him to eat.  Babies born before 36 weeks have no suck, for the first day and a half we had to feed him through a syrnge that had a little tube on the end that looked like it was half way down his throat but was probably just at the back of his mouth.  He picked up on the concept of food real quick and hasn't looked back since.  We had to stay in the hospital an extra day because of his size and they wanted him to stay longer but I didn't want to go with out him so we talked to our pediatrican and he let us all go home due to Ryan being a nurse.  I don't think you ever feel totally relaxed with your new baby until your in your own space and setting up your own routine at home.
