Fire in Southern Oregon, August 2013

This is the first noticeable day of smoke, if you look closely you can see the red sun from the smoke.

Two days later a picture focused at the same hill side as the prior picture but you can't even see the mountain.

In comparison to a clear day.

Summer time is always a time for potential summer fires.  This year there are multiple fires surrounding Rogue River.  The first day was not too bad, the kids were impressed by the red fiery sun.  Two days later the smoke settle in Rogue River and all the surrounding areas as the fires continued to burn out of control.  With the air quality considered hazardous, the kids spent an abundant of time in the house bouncing off the walls.  Reports say that the air quality will remain this way for the next 10 days.

Football Time Again, July 2013

You can tell how serious Roc takes football, look at the concentration on his face (he did make the catch).

This year Roc was going to play football while Emma was a cheer leader, unfortunately Rogue River was not able to get enough players for a team so Roc will be playing for Grants Pass.  Because there was no football, Emma will not be a cheer leader for Roc's team this year, she will be doing cheer in Rogue River as part of the cheer team.  This will be Roc's second year, it will be fun to watch him  and at least we have our weekends planned for the next several months!

Ryan's Birthday, July 25th 2013

Ryan and his birthday cake!

After Stacie took a couple of pictures, all the kids wanted to take a picture.  This picture is taken by Porter, the most impressive part is that while taking the picture Porter put his nose where his eye should have been, so this picture was virtually taken blindly by Porter.

Stacie made Ryan his own birthday cake for his birthday.  Ryan was more then willing to share with everyone but surprisingly no one else wanted carrot cake!  Stacie did make chocolate cupcakes for everyone else.

This is one of our wedding pictures that was mixed in with our other pictures, Stacie scanned it into our pictures so that she could give a copy to one of her friends. I turned out good considering that it was a scanned copy so we thought we would share it with everyone.

 

 

Summer Fun, June-July 2013

The kite festival in Brookings

My good friend from high school Amy Cassidy came to visit and we had three fun filled days of sitting around talking, watching the kids play and just having a good old time.

We finally broke down and got a pool.  I don't know who enjoyed it more Ryan or the kids.  Regardless it made for some memorable family fun.





Our local Rooster Day's parade that Roc and Emma participated in for the pop warner football and cheer program.  If only it hadn't been 90 degrees at 10 AM.

A fun summer full of fun activities for our family.  We had the opportunity to spend some quality time with both friends and family.  This is just some of the photos of the fun activities that we participated in.  The kids enjoyed their time off of school with days filled with playing in the sun.  Ryan and Stacie just wished that they would sleep in past 8:00.

Calvin Relaxing, June 2013

Stacie was helping get Emma into the shower when she realized that it had been quiet for several minutes.  Anyone who has spent anytime with our family knows that it can be scary when there is a momentary silence.  This time Stacie got lucky and Calvin had decided to relax with a good book snuggle up with one of our quilts!  Usually she would return to some sort of mayhem.

Summer Time at the Beach, June 2013

The beach always seems so relaxing especially when you can get there and you don't have to share it with anyone!

You will probably see this picture again but I had to put this at the top because it is such a funny, classic Calvin face.

We are getting close to the point that we will no longer be able to use the stroller so we will enjoy it while we can.

After a stent at the beach we traveled south to the Oregon Dunes.

Unfortunately there are some limitations to the stroller, after about a quarter mile on a nice paved trail the path turned into sand and that was our end of the road for the stroller so we turned back and admired the dunes from afar.

On to another beach, Roc found a dead crab that was mostly intact, you can tell that he is thinking of all the fun he can have with it.  The one thing that Roc could not understand is why Stacie and Ryan would not let him take it home with him.

For some reason Calvin did not like the sand, every time we put him on the sand he would scream, later he did get a little more comfortable with it when he realized that he needed to be in the sand to play with the toys.

There is that look again!

It was a little chilly but it was worth it.

After going to Portland to visit with Nicole and Brian and to celebrate Emma's Birthday at Chuck E Cheese we headed down the Oregon coast for some fun and sight seeing.  It is amazing how many hours the kids can spend playing in the sand.  It was a fun weekend to celebrate Emma's birthday and to enjoy one of our only free weekends this summer.
